Question from a Two-by-Two:

We are discussing (we,being my hubby and I) different ways to tell if what we are doing is right or wrong. I know many of you have made up your minds, but we are slower.

How do you discount the fact that Jesus sent “HIS” disciples 2x2?

Someone said, “Part of the problem may be your premise. You seem to be emphasizing that others are “discounting a fact.” This is an error you make because true Christians do not discount the fact that Jesus sent out some of “HIS” original disciples in pairs. Rather Christians do not put such great emphasis on this issue and build a whole religion around it. Some very good reasons for Jesus doing it this way have already been mentioned. But Jesus did not direct this as a future for the entire church.”

When you make the below comment, where can you justify the common method of a preacher and a church?

I was trying to find out a way, some information on the workers sect to share with my professing parents. When I found VOT and started reading other ex-2x2's experiences, I could almost say that I was reading my very own experiences.

I was elated and shocked with unbelief, because the workers lead you to believe that they are such a small group with no associations of any kind, that they are such a small group that always meet in homes and therefore there is no record of them with the government, because of their no-name status.

I had never before imagined that there would be websites on this sect, chat rooms, even books written about it!!!

So far, I haven't read any of them, but I'm anxious to start.

I learned how to fit in and did my best as I feared the wrath of God if I were found unworthy.

I was in the “Truth” for 15+ years. My first encounter was when I was in junior high. I got to know a girl whose family professed. We became quite close and I was invited to her home to spend the night. I was impressed by her family.

The quiet, peaceful tone they used when speaking to one another. My home was very different. It was always noisy and definitely not peaceful. We grew up and grew apart. Years later, she married an old friend of my husband’s family so we started spending time together again. It was the early 1970’s and we read a book by the name of “The Late Great Planet Earth.” We both feared the end of the world and being left, should the rapture happen. We started to go to Gospel Meetings in 1973. We attended every meeting and both professed at the last one. The workers at that time were David Kennedy and Claire Bone. They visited me daily for several months. I learned how to fit in and did my best as I feared the wrath of God if I were found unworthy. My husband professed 6 years later.

They successfully separated us from our family and any previous friends we may have had.

It has taken some time to reach the stage where you feel free to talk about your experiences and life in the "way". So many of us are now at different stages and still wrestling with the past and it takes some time as 42 years of one's life cannot just be forgotten in six months.

The "truth" came into our family in 1917 with my Dad, his Mother and brother professing. I was therefore born and raised in the "truth" and professed when I was 12 (1956).

• Did you hear it from a worker? 

If you know “The Truth”, it had to come from a worker sent by God.  –Everyone is blind unless the Holy Spirit opens their eyes.  We all need to pray for sight.
